These individuals were honored with a $500 award each. The award is targeted to a student (undergraduate or graduate) who exemplifies leadership, commitment and excellence to the advancement of the human resources profession.
Program Description
The success of the human resources profession depends on our commitment to educate, guide and inspire college students entering into the human resources field by providing professional support and development through SHRP student membership. In recognition of these students, we are introducing the SHRP HR Leader of Tomorrow Award.
One of the ways the SHRP College Relations Committee supports student members with their educational growth and development is through the HR Leader of Tomorrow Award. The award is targeted to a student (undergraduate or graduate) who exemplifies leadership, commitment and excellence to the advancement of the human resources profession. SHRP will award two $500 checks to nominated students who meet the guidelines of this award program.
Award
The award is targeted to students (undergraduate or graduate) who exemplify leadership, commitment and excellence to the advancement of the human resources profession.
Eligibility
- Nominee must be an active student member of SHRP or SHRM for at least 1 year
- Nominee must be enrolled in a college or university working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree with a concentration in human resources or a related discipline, i.e. sociology, psychology, organizational development
Note: Officers and Board Members are not eligible for this award.
Criteria
SHRP will award two $500 checks to students who are nominated and demonstrate the following qualities in 2008 efforts:
L eadership & collaboration
E xemplary record of participation in SHRP programs, HR classes, projects and/or internship programs
A bility to apply human resources knowledge to class/project work or on the job
D evelop effective communication skills
E ngaged with the HR community through completion of volunteer work, workshops, seminars and/or conferences
R espectful toward others

- Receives a $500 award.

- Honored at the Annual SHRP event in September 11, 2009.
- Given complimentary tickets for award recipient and guest for the annual SHRP event.
- Announced to SHRP members and honored on web site during fourth quarter of 2009.
Rules for Entry
- All active SHRP professional members; affiliated school professors teaching human resource courses and affiliated school liaisons are eligible to nominate candidates. Nomination forms will be online to members in March 2009. The deadline for entries is August 1, 2009.
- Nominators will be asked to write-up a profile and summary for each nominated individual based on the L.E.A.D.E.R qualities cited under the Criteria section.
- The SHRP College Relations Committee will select award recipients.
- If the winner is not a current member of SHRP, they will be required to obtain a SHRP membership prior to the presentation of the Award.
