Driven by my enthusiasm for the HR profession and knowing the critical impact great HR people can make on organizations, I wanted to add value at a higher level by volunteering on a committee and contributing to the strategic direction and focus of SHRP.  The membership committee in particular creates an opportunity for outreach to the HR community. 

Currently, I manage the Chicago division of HR Solutions, a search and consulting services firm in the HR industry.  Previously, I was in banking for 20 years and worked in both the line of business and in HR, which gives me both a business and HR perspective inside an organization.  Specifically, for 11 of those years, I was an AVP with ABN Amro, and managed 250 employees and 5 departments.  With that headcount came heavy employee relations and recruitment.  A function of that position was to be the relationship manager to the line of business and HR.  I have a B.S. degree in business and am working on my SPHR
